National Lipstick day

So Naturally when I heard it was National Lipstick Day, I figured I HAD to share my favorites with you all.

I'm going to show you my current 3 favorite Drugstore, and high end lipsticks.

Starting with Drugstore:

 1. NYX Matte Lipstick in: Shocking Pink

This lip color is awesome. Not only is it only about 4 dollars at Ulta, its long wearing. The only downside of it, is that its very drying. So make sure to use a lip balm first before applying.

Here is the swatch:

It swatches almost identical to how it shows on my lips.

2. Revlon Super Lustrous: in 725 Love that Red

This is a very true Hollywood Red. Its a blue-toned red, meaning its not as harsh and its BRIGHT. This is such a classic. Again this retails for about 5-6 dollars. It's one of my favorite Reds to wear. I believe every girl should have a good go-to red. Its a good way to dress up an outfit.

Here's the swatch:

You can see in this picture how bright it is, and how its pulling a little bit more blue toned.

3. Kate Moss for Rimmel: Rosetto Rouge

This is an AMAZING vampy Red. It pulls more of a wine color on your lips and in the swatch. I think a vampy lip for any time of the year is a great way to pull together a dressier evening look.

Here's the swatch:

OK: Now for the High End Goodies:

1. MAC: Fabby

If bright color scares you, this is a color for everyone. Its my favorite everyday nude. I don't wear nude very often since i'm so pale I like a pop of color, but this color is gorgeous! It is a pinkey nude, with GOLD shimmer. I said it..gold shimmer!

Here is the swatch:

It pulls much more pink on hand then on my lips. Its a "my lips but better shade".

2. MAC: Show Orchid:

This is the perfect creamy hot pink. It also in the sunlight has a orchid shimmer. So it almost pulls pinkey/purple. The color pay off is incredible. With just one swipe you have a bright pink lip.

Here's the Swatch:

3. MAC Heroine:

So if you are into following trends, The Pantone color of the year is Orchid. This lip color is just that. Its a LOUD statement, but SO so fun. I think its most fun in the fall, but i have topped it with lighter gloss all summer to tone it down. I love it!

Here's the Swatch:

MAC lipsticks Retail for $16 a piece. So its more of a commitment for sure, but they have some of my favorite formulas.

I hope you enjoyed this beauty break!

Seeing Double

So your not going crazy. I did just wear this exact same tunic in purple a few posts ago. I have to say when i find something I love, and it fits well.. i have to get it in multiple colors.
If you don't live under a rock, i'm sure you have heard the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is going on. If you do live under a rock.. Hey! The Nordstrom Anniversay sale is going on!
This was the first year in a long time I was shopping the sale instead of working it. It felt so wrong but oh so right.
I got this tunic for i think 21 dollars. A major STEAL!
I'm still obsessing over slip on tennis shoes as well. I feel like I can conquer the world in them. I'm not a tennis shoes kind of girl like i've said before but these I can do.

I posted a pretty funny mash-up of "blooper pictures" over on my instagram account in attempts to get these.  Just goes to show, not every pictures is glamorous. And my true personality seems to come out in the "in between" shots.

If you don't already follow me on Instagram you can find me at: @kaitlawson_
I post more daily updates/ugly pictures there. ;)

No Brainer - Summer Dress

So I wanted to start a new series called "No Brainer". This might be the easiest series ever made (ha), but here is the concept. Pairing simple pieces in your wardrobe to make a "no brainer" outfit, but with your own spin on it.  Its kind of like putting on a T-shirt, a fab pair of  Jeans and a long gold chain.... like ...DUH! (that might be my next "no brainer" post)... no seriously stay tuned for that... ;)

I think a summer dress is a no brainer. It takes no thought to pull it on in the morning. But my example above is taking a simple summer dress, and adding my own fun accessories to make it my own. I'm sure everyone has a fun cotton summer dress in their closet. But sometimes I can put on a dress and feel so boring. So here I paired it with a chunky necklace, fedora, jean jacket and some wedges.
I also feel like accessories/ accent pieces can really show your personality, which is so fun. This is what makes fashion an individual journey.

These wedges were a "no brainer" purchase. I have worn them to DEATH. I'm a tall girl, but I wear heels almost every day. Why? ... well because I can. Phil LOVES when i'm taller then him. (Dont 'cha Phil?)

This is an outfit I feel like everyone can put together. Dress + Jean jacket + your favorite wedge. DONE! It would also pair nicely with some gold layering necklace if you prefer that over a statement necklace. Or you could take the jacket off, and do a really cool arm cuff, scarf, a floppy hat instead of fedora... the sky's the limit here people!

And of course, because I'm me, I paired it with a hot pink lip. Had to have some sort of pop of color, and since I lack color in my closet I make up for it in my cosmetics. :)

What is your favorite "No brainer" summer outfit?
Share in the comments below. I love hearing for you guys!

**If you read through this entire post, give yourself a high five. Thank you for                                             reading. It means the world to me!

Cookout

We just recently bought porch furniture which OFFICIALLY makes me an adult. There it is.. I said it. Me and Phil saw that Target was having a sale on Memorial day, and snatched up the cutest table, chairs, and bench for our porch. We also added cafe lights, and tiki torches, because what's cozier than cafe lights?
Nothing..
We wanted to have a great setting that we could have people over, and enjoy the beautiful summer we are having.
We had SUCH a fun time with friends last night. I said at one point "So many people I love at one table!" My heart was so full. We also might have played "Mafia". This game gives me major anxiety because I am a terrible liar, and its obvious!
All in all, it was one incredible Monday.

Since I recently left my last job, and started a new job, I finally feel like i have found balance in my life. I can actually have a social life (imagine that), where my previous job left no room for anything but work. It has been so neat to have a new season in life to invest in friendships, my marriage, and my church.
I am so thankful!

Here is what I wore for our little cook out last night, but let's be honest, the star of the show in these photos is really just my cozy porch. :)

Free People

{Photo Credit to Sam Moses. Find him on Instagram @SamLightning}

Living in Nashville has definitely influenced my style. I feel like generally my style is pretty dressy, with a lot heels, and statement necklaces. I'm no hipster,  but sometimes i love feeling a little boho. I recently just got this Free People tunic, and have been obsessed. I'm a total Free People NEWB. I know i'm so late to the game with being obsessed with it, but I didn't think I could pull off ANYTHING at Free People. But lately I have been really drawn to their stuff. I love any look that you can layer with multiple things and make a really unique outfit. And anything you can wear that feels like fancy pajamas has Kait written all over it.
We had a little teaser this week with some colder temperatures, and I was all about it.  I LOVE fall. Thinking about whipping out my sweaters, my Bath and Body Works "Leaves" candle, and drinking pumpkin coffee.. MMM! I can hardly wait. Here's to dreaming of colder weather and coziness.

Bonjour

BONJOUR! I have recently been obsessed with graphic tees. In the past few months I have been particularly drawn to them. I think it is so fun to pair two unconventional items together to get an outfit. A graphic tee, a dressier drawstring silk pant, and a fun printed heel. DONE. #ringmeup
I was just telling my girlfriends the other day that I want my blog to represent attainable style. Not just something you can gain inspiration from, or look at and think " I would literally never wear that". But instead looking at a post, and going to your closet, and feeling inspired to piece something together that you feel confident, and beautiful in. That's what this is all really about.
So thank you for joining in on this journey with me!
** My dear friend Sam offered to take some pictures of me, so these are all his doing. (Find him on Instagram @samlightning)

Stay tuned loves. So much more to come!

Best Latte in Town

If you know me, you know I'm no coffee snob. I can drink a Keurig coffee, or Dunkin Donuts coffee and be one happy girl. But every once in a while I enjoy a well crafted Latte and in my opinion the best in town is at Barista Parlor. My husband isn't too fond of "overrated' coffee shops. But it's overrated for a reason. The ambience, the coffee, to the good music, and the awesome homemade food.
Here are a few pictures of our Saturday morning breakfast at Barista Parlor:

OK: this was unreal - Waffles with vanilla bourbon butter, peach slices, and maple syrup.

I always order the Salty Carmel Iced latte.

And lastly for a quick outfit of the day. I typically don't like to bear my arms, but since i've been working out with a trainer - i'm trying to have more confidence in showing them off. Also its too dang hot in Nashville for sleeves.
