Road Trippin'

Wednesday we left for a 13 hour drive up to Michigan from my husband's Grandma's 80th Birthday Bash. His Aunt and Uncle have a lake house there that we were all meeting up at to have family reunion.
But first the long drive. Obviously every long trip for me stops with a coffee run. We went downtown quickly to grab a coffee and some breakfast and found this awesome wall to snap a few pictures.
My attire while traveling is always a layered look. I got this haute hippie shirt recently and it feels like pajamas. I layered it with this oversized sweater that i LOVE and threw on a hat. Pretty low maintenance. Typically i'll wear leggings and a tunic, but that will be my next no brainer style post, so more about that later :)

Other than a latte as a travel essential, I usually always have a book on my ipad ready. I'm currently reading "White Girl Problems" and i'm pretty sure i've never laughed so hard in my life while reading a novel.
I'll have more posts up soon about my lake attire this weekend. Its been chilly so its giving me fall fever. Its been so nice to be off work and have a little R&R.

No Brainer: "LBD" - Little Black Dress

Again if you are joining in for the first time, WELCOME! Thank you for tuning into my Fashion/lifestyle blog. I am in the midst of a series called "No Brainer" style. The premise is, styling pieces every woman has in her wardrobe, but putting a fun spin on them, and making these every day pieces unique. Some times I get stuck in a style rut and seem to only wear what's new in my closet, or those "go-to" pieces over and over. So how do we make these "go-to" pieces new again.  Well keep reading .. :)
We all have one. That little black dress. Me... I probably have 8, because i would say 2/3 of my closet is black. What can I say, it's my power color. I was on Pinterest earlier and was looking at all black outfits, and remembered this little gem of a dress. I have had this little number for a good 4 years. It was a random find at H&M, which I usually don't have a lot of luck at H&M. I knew i wanted to pair it with booties, and some gold simple jewelry, but I didn't know how to tie it all together. The head band was a last minute addition.
There's not much to this outfit, but what makes it me is the accessories I paired with it. It's just a little black dress, but adding some fringe booties, a stacked wrist, and a headband, now we have an outfit unique to me.
That's what this series is about. Looking at those pieces in your wardrobe in a different way. I think this is also a good way to STRETCH your wardrobe. Instead of always looking for something new, restyling and remixing what you already have.

Also if you don't follow me on Instagram, these sunglasses are actually my husband's. So needless to stay he is probably more stylish than I am. I wear them so much he said I can have them, but were really just sharing. Ha. The struggle is real people.

No Brainer: T-shirt & Jeans

Just a quick recap if you're just joining in. I just started a series called "No Brainer" which is styling simple pieces in your wardrobe that everyone has, but putting your own spin to it. So I told you my next "No Brainer" would be a T-shirt and Jeans, and here it is.
A T-shirt to me is not a college T-shirt from my alma Mater, or a T-shirt you bought at the last concert you attended. (Although I do love a good Taylor Swift Band Tee). For me its a short sleeved cotton shirt, with SOME kind of shape.
My first tip to a casual outfit like this would be finding a T shirt that has good shape. This one specifically is from Anthro, and I liked the way it fit so much I bought it in Black too. I like that is a V-neck, its fitted but also loose, AND longer in the back. I mean what more could you want in a T-shirt.
The easiest way for me to dress up a T-shirt is to add a simple pump. These tell a lot about me. They say I'm classy in the front, and a little hardcore in the back.
Kind of like a solid mullet, but better.

Lastly, if you see me wearing an outfit on my blog, I really did wear this today. If i took the effort to get dressed and do my hair, I'm going to take a picture to capture those precious moments.
Because I work from home, I spend a lot of time in my Pajamas, and Lululemons. So getting dressed is quite the accomplishment these days.

What is your favorite T-shirt? How would you style it?
Tell me in the comments below.

Polka Dots and Leopard Spots

(First of all, side note: this last picture makes me laugh, because I always find about 15 pictures like this after we shoot blog pics, because I'm always in the midst of talking, laughing, doing something goofy. An extra behind the scenes for ya there).

This weekend we drove to Indy for a family wedding. Over my birthday I had walked into J.Crew outlet and saw this dress on the clearance rack. 50 Percent off the already marked down price. Which made this beauty about 30 dollars. I never plan ahead for weddings, and then I always dread picking out an outfit the day of. I always wish that I would have picked something up, or had something in my back pocket to wear. I specifically picked this out for this upcoming wedding. This dress was so simple to style because it's such a blank canvas. I chose to do different prints in my accessories/ shoes and really liked the way it came out.
This necklace I'm wearing I actually gave to my mom a few Christmas's ago, and everytime I was with her I would borrow it, so she finally just told me to keep it. Oh well, call me an indian giver I suppose. :)
We snapped a few of these picture outside of the church quickly right before it started to rain, so there isn't too many of the full outfit but you get the idea. So thanks Libby for taking these.
